Hello,
Is there anything that stops the card number and PIN from being stolen and transmitted to a malicious remote user when the a smartphone using google wallet has a virus on it and is connected to the internet?
Why are you connecting a phone known to have a virus to the internet? If it's just a matter of charging the phone from a convenient USB port then I've heard it suggested that you carry your own dongle that drops the two data pins, only passes the two power pins through.

The assumption is that the user is unaware of the virus. Google wallet is either available/coming up as an Android application. It is reasonable to assume that a lot of phones running Android connect to the internet due to the way gmail, google chat, googlemaps and youtube is integrated into it. Personally, I am going to wait and watch its security for a while. There may be an issue of how this affects personal security. The user is now 'forced' to carry his wallet just by carrying his/her smartphone. Sarad.
