Kaczynski attempts suicide

SACRAMENTO, California (AP) -- The judge in Theodore Kaczynski's trial declared him "lucid, calm" and free from signs of mental illness just hours before the Unabomb suspect tried to kill himself in his cell.

I don't get it. The guy is facing the death penalty, and now they're trying to keep him alive.
