     I'm not one to call parents who surveil children "Orwellian": a
     parent's job is to prepare a child for the world and protect them
     from the world.

   We are all children of the state
   (child is badly defined, the role of parents is culturally defined and
   not something logically following from the production of babies,
   although the caretaking at least is pretty preprogrammed)
