i'm noting that a man who had seemed to me to be really developing
[mind control] in the city it catalyzed for me said he came off the
apalachian trail (and he had a house) -- but he was living homeless.
it was strange to see a hiker with a home living homeless and
influencing a city.

i'm thinking of how people who spend a lot of time outdoors
- are often alone for long periods of time, during which they may be
more vulnerable
- may be in certain social or political classes
